TypeCustomer support: paid per outcome
PricingPublished
Websitefin.ai

Fin is Intercom's AI agent for customer support. Its pricing page charges per outcome rather than per seat, and Fin can be used with a company's current helpdesk1.

Best for: Support teams that want AI to resolve routine conversations and pay only when it does, on top of the helpdesk they already use.

Not the right fit for: Companies looking to own their support software or to replace the helpdesk itself.

How outcome pricing works

Fin is billed at $0.99 per outcome on the current-helpdesk plan, with a minimum of 50 outcomes a month. A resolution, one type of outcome, is recorded when no further help is requested after Fin's last answer. Only one outcome is billed per conversation, however many actions Fin takes, and conversations passed to the team without an outcome are not charged. Qualifications are billed at $9.99 each1.

Bain's 2025 analysis places tier-one support among the workflows where AI is most likely to cannibalise SaaS, and names Intercom and Salesforce as vendors already moving to outcome-based pricing2.

What it replaces, and what it does not

Fin replaces work: routine conversations a support agent would otherwise handle. It does not replace the helpdesk, which remains the system of record; Salesforce is among the helpdesks named on the pricing page1. A company's software bill may therefore rise in the short term while staffing needs fall.

Published evidence

The pricing page describes Fin as the highest-performing AI agent and links to benchmarks, but gives no resolution rate on the page itself1.

Strengths and limits

Strengths

  • Outcome pricing: conversations handed to the team without an outcome are not charged.
  • Only one outcome is billed per conversation, however many actions Fin takes.
  • Sits on top of an existing helpdesk, including Salesforce, so adoption is quick.

Limits

  • It adds a vendor rather than removing one: the helpdesk subscription remains.
  • Qualifications are billed at $9.99 each, so lead-handling use costs more.
  • Data and configuration stay with the vendor.

Choose another option if: You want support, CRM and mail in one owned system rather than an AI layer on a rented helpdesk.

Pricing

Published: $0.99 per outcome with a 50-outcome monthly minimum; qualifications $9.99 each.

Questions to ask Intercom

  • What share of our conversations would Fin resolve, based on a trial on our own data?
  • How is a disputed outcome handled in billing?
  • What happens to Fin's configuration and conversation data if we leave?
